While at Runway, we want to provide unlimited service, that does not apply to SPAM. Some people, when accessing their email, find that they have received SPAM mail (unsolicited mass electronic mail). They simply delete the unwanted message, or reply with a 'remove' command, to avoid future mailings. However, some people get very angry at having to sort through this unwanted 'junk mail'. Often, they post letters of complaint to the Internet Service Provider that hosts the individual that has sent out spam mail. Junk Mail is now regarded as the same as unwanted and unsolicited junk faxes and telemarketing calls - all of which are now ILLEGAL under US federal law:
At Runway, if you plan to send out mass unsolicited electronic mail, please find another server. Any Runway subscriber (Runway domain or hosted virtual domain clients) who engages in unsolicited mass email is subject to immediate account termination. All System Administration time required to respond to complaints or loss of services that are due to the sending of unsolicited email will be billed to the initial sender at the rate of $75.00 per hour. We regard the use of system resources for SPAM as nothing less than theft - it places an unneccessary load on our system, plus it wastes the valuable time of our System Administrator: a lot of SPAM mail generates return messages and irate mail from those who receive it. Our subscribers are not authorized to use our system for SPAM mail. Similarly, non-subscribers are also prohibited from using Runway.net as a relay for (anonymous) sending of SPAM mail. Unauthorized relay use costs Runway time and money. If you are not a Runway subscriber, and you use Runway for this purpose, you will be billed:
